NC district presidents elected in 44 districts

The central election committee of the Nepali Congress has stated that the election in connection to the party’s General Convention has been held in 44 districts. The process concerning the general convention had been started in many districts on February 7.
However, the process was halted until February 12 following the demise of the party president Sushil Koirala on February 9. The party’s village level convention in Bara and Parsa districts that could not be held on the designated date due to technical reasons has also been started, said Pradip Parajuli, Secretary at the Nepali Congress Central Office. The election programme in the two districts started only from Tuesday.
He said that the election programme was in progress in other districts of the Tarai and the village convention has concluded in Dhanusha, Siraha and Saptari. The process of the district convention has moved forward in Rautahat district with the conclusion of the constituency level convention.
Gopal Krishna Ghimire, member of the NC election committee, informed that instructions have been issued to the remaining 31 districts to complete the district conventions within February 22. So far the general convention representatives have been elected from 210 electoral constituencies in 65 districts. RSS
