Himalaya Airlines to serve direct flights to Colombo
Kathmandu, Sept 21: The Himalaya Airlines is set to operate a direct flight from Kathmandu to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, as its second international destination beginning from October 1.
The Kathmandu – Colombo flight is being launched with an aim to draw in Sri Lankan tourists not just for promoting trade, according to Himalaya Airlines General Manager, Raju KC.
The Airlines will operate flights to Colombo three days a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. As per the flight schedule, the Colombo bound flight will take off from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 11: 30 am and touchdown in Colombo at 3: 15 pm whereas the incoming flight to Kathmandu will depart at 4:15 pm from Colombo and land in Kathmandu at 8:15 pm.
The Himalaya Airlines will serve the flight with Airbus 320 9N ALAN, which had previously been flying to Doha of Qatar. The Airlines will now have two destinations.
The Airlines plans to operate flights to five international destinations within this year. Its next destinations will be to New Delhi of India, Dammam of Saudi Arabia and Myanmar. It plans to expand the flight network to Chinese destinations next year.
The Airlines which currently has a single 158-seat airbus will induct an additional airbus for international flights within October, GM KC said.
The one way economy class ticket for Kathmandu – Colombo flight has been fixed at Rs 29,191 while the two-way ticket price stands at Rs 50,041. For the business class, one way ticket costs Rs 39,319 while customers can purchase two-way ticket for the same class at Rs 82, 281. RSS
